More about Sue

Registered Nutritional Therapist and Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner

My unusual journey with nutrition started in a remote up-market tented safari camp in the Okavango delta of Botswana where for four years I created wholesome meals from scratch. The ingredients were trucked in from a village a full days drive away, so I needed to be very creative with limited resources.

On our game drives I noticed how wild predators always ate the internal organs of their prey first, and how vultures devoured the fresh faeces of Painted dogs and hyenas (my first experience of faecal transplant!). It intrigued me that nature acknowledged the value of microbial mass as well as the protein, fibre and undigested food that natural food contains.

In my mid-thirties I fell from a horse and severely damaged several vertebrae in my spinal column.   It completely changed my life. Electing not to undergo surgery (against vehement protests from my doctors), I made a gentle and totally successful recovery using rest, yoga, rehab-exercises and targeted nutritional support. I realised right then that I wanted to help other people to re-achieve optimal health; I completely changed my occupation and began my journey into wellness.

All his life, my husband had struggled with inhibiting digestion symptoms, and he’d found very little relief from mainstream medicine which only treated the symptoms. Using functional testing and targeted support, we were able to support his compromised digestive capacity and microbial imbalances and give him the freedom to go freely about his life.

It is my passion and delight to see the change I can affect in people’s health, through small yet profound dietary interventions. There is no greater reward than to help people to sparkle!

After fast-tracking through the BSc degree, I completed an MSc in Personalised Nutrition with the Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management (CNELM) in 2013. I continued my training with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and in November 2019 qualified as a Certified Practitioner.
